Teenager Rabiea, Shedid in Egypt squad

Ahli youngster Rami Rabiea and his teammate Ahmed Shedid are included in Egypt squad as the Pharaohs prepare for a friendly game with Qatar with a local-based roster.

The 19-year-old Rabiea earned his first Egypt call-up after impressing with Ahli at the Club World Cup, while full-back Shedid - who has just one cap - was named at the expense of Sayed Moawad.

Only Merreikh keeper Essam Al-Hadari and Helsinki forward Sherif Ashraf were named out of a handful of foreign-based players for the December 28 fixture, having already finished the domestic season with their respective clubs.

The squad also included the return of Al-Sayed Hamdi, who has only played for Egypt under the management of former coach Hassan Shehata.

There is still no place for skipper Ahmed Hassan, while Ahli’s Ahmed Fathi and Walid Soliman were both left out after picking up injuries at the World Cup.
