Meanwhile, the new season of the Egyptian second division has kicked off on Wednesday, with a number of fixtures taking place in six groups over the country on Thursday.

Two groups

In the same subject, Sports Minister El-Amry Farouk has revealed that should the competition be officially resumed next month, top-flight teams will be split to two groups.

“Everyone has agreed that forming two groups of Premier League clubs would be much better,” Farouk said at a press conference.

“It is the ideal system because we are running out of time.

“Of course Ahli will be on top of one group and Zamalek will head the other.”
