Egypt goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Shennawi could be joining coach Hany Ramzy at Belgian side Lierse despite being on loan with Zamalek.
The 21-year-old revealed he has been contacted by his former Egypt U-23 boss Ramzy, who has just been named Lierse coach.
“Coach Hany Ramzy called me to ask about the possibility of me joining Lierse,” Al-Shennawi told FilGoal.com.
“Personally I accepted the offer but I must wait for the approval of Zamalek.”
Al-Shennawi is on a season-long loan from Masri, who are banned from domestic football next season for their involvement in last February's Port-Said calamity.
However, with the uncertain future of domestic football in Egypt, the goalkeeping prodigy could be leaving Cairo in the winter break.
Al-Shennawi may well be between the posts when Egypt meet Georgia in a friendly game on Wednesday night, with number one Essam Al-Hadari doubtful.
