Egypt will be facing Qatar instead of Yemen, a few hours after the FA announced a friendly meeting with the Yemeni first team.
Without setting a date for the fixtures, the FA said earlier on Thursday that Egypt will play two warm-up games against Yemen and Hungary without players of Ahli and the military national team.
However, the Egyptian FA’s website issued a new statement reading that the Yemen game has been cancelled and that an alternative friendly against Qatar shall take place on December 28.
The Hungary match could still be staged though, with the FA saying that it might be a double meeting with the European minnows on December 5 and 8 in Hurghada.
The decision to pick Qatar and Hungary is a bit surprising, knowing that coach Bob Bradley has requested warm-up games against African nations ahead of next year’s World Cup qualifiers.
Egypt will face Zimbabwe in March in their next competitive fixture.
