Egypt have turned down Tunisia's friendly game proposal this month due to ‘financial issues’, the EFA said on its official website.
Tunisia requested playing a warm-up match with the Pharaohs on January 17 in Abu Dhabi, five days before the Carthage Eagles kick off their African Cup of Nations campaign against Algeria.
The FA said the matter will be discussed with the management before coming up with the decision to reject the meeting.
"We failed to reach an agreement over the friendly game with Tunisia," board member Mahmoud Al-Shami told the FA's official website.
"Financial disagreements were the main reason plus the little time available for Tunisia ahead of the Cup of Nations."
The last meeting between the North-African rivals saw the Tunisians claim a 1-0 friendly win in Abu-Dhabi back in October.
Egypt, record seven-time African champions, failed to make it to the CAN finals this year after succumbing to a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Central African Republic in June.
Bob Bradley’s team play Ghana and Ivory Coast in Abu Dhabi this month.
